Modernizing pilot boats with Humphree Interceptors
How do you make a pilot boat more efficient, adaptable and future-ready?
For UK-based Goodchild Marine Services, modern stabilization technology and reliable service are important parts of building pilot boats ready for the demands of today and tomorrow.
Goodchild Marine Services has been using Humphree systems for around two years. Kevin Fuller, Yard Supervisor at Goodchild Marine Services, explains that service was one of the main reasons behind the switch to Humphree.
“The main reason we switched was service. We get a great service from you guys.”
A modern approach to pilot boat trim and stabilization
Goodchild previously used traditional trim systems but has since moved to Humphree Interceptors, providing a more modern and adaptable solution for its pilot boats.
Today, Humphree's system is fitted across Goodchild’s ORC range, giving customers the opportunity to adapt the system according to their requirements.
“The interceptor is far more modern and far more adaptable for our clients,” Kevin explains.
The system can be adjusted manually when needed, while additional functionality can be configured to suit the vessel and its operation. This gives Goodchild greater flexibility when delivering boats for different customer requirements.
Efficiency and adaptability for the future
Beyond improving trim and vessel control, Humphree Interceptors can contribute to a more efficient running angle and reduced fuel consumption. For Goodchild, this supports a clear goal: building efficient, modern pilot boats that can adapt to changing requirements throughout their operational life.
As Kevin puts it, the aim is to deliver “an efficient modern pilot boat that’s adaptable” while future-proofing vessels for what comes next. Watch the video to hear Kevin Fuller share Goodchild Marine Services’ experience with Humphree and why they made the switch.
