Introducing our upgraded fin servo for quieter operation and easier service

At Humphree, we’ve been challenging the marine industry with our innovative stabilization solutions for more than two decades. As part of our continuous product development, we’re now launching an upgraded fin servo, refined to deliver improved performance and easier service across our range of fin stabilizer systems. After nearly two years of development, the design has now been refined with a strong focus on two key areas: enhanced acoustic performance and improved serviceability. 

Since the introduction of our fin stabilizers, both our technology and customer expectations have evolved. While performance and strength remain fundamental, today’s marine experience places increasing emphasis on onboard comfort, refinement and acoustic performance.

To address this, we have introduced several design improvements in the gearbox, refining key components to deliver smoother, quieter operation and a more refined experience. The servo is offered in two variants for different fin sizes, based on a common upgraded platform covering the entire Humphree fin range.

– This upgrade is another example of how we develop our products together with our customers. Through feedback from owner/operators, designers, yards and service partners, we have been able to identify where we can make a real difference in everyday use, particularly in serviceability and onboard experience. We continuously develop our products based on real-world experience, and this upgraded servo is a direct result of that work, says Joakim Larsson, Product Manager R&D at Humphree.

New design for easier maintenance

The upgraded servo has been designed to make both routine and advanced service work more straightforward and efficient. In addition to the new dedicated lubrication point, several design updates now make it possible to perform more extensive maintenance and upgrades directly onboard. Together, these improvements expand the range of service work that can be carried out onboard and make the servo significantly easier to maintain over its lifetime.

Development and manufacturing under one roof

All development and manufacturing takes place at our facility in Gothenburg, Sweden. By bringing design, development, testing and production together under one roof, we quickly turn field insights into continuous product improvements. This close integration also helps us respond faster to customer feedback and translate it into practical product enhancements.

The upgraded servo will soon be introduced as standard in new Humphree fin stabilizer systems. Retrofit solutions will also be offered for existing installations, allowing current Humphree customers to upgrade to the latest servo technology and benefit from quieter, more refined operation.
